Swimming with Sea Lions

We had some visitors today and took them to La Jolla to visit the Cove. Dave and our friend, Tom, went swimming. They swam out to some rocks with sea lions on them. Seals are really common in the area. I think sea lions are less so, but I'm not totally sure about that. Need to do some googling.

Anyways, I told Dave to swim out closer to the creatures so I could take a good picture (see him waving?). They started barking at him.... After Dave swam out, I realized there were some smaller sea lions swimming around the rocks. Little did he realize he was swimming so close to them!

Hello, Mr. Froggy

Dave found a cute itty bitty frog hanging out in our BBQ today. It was really small, about the size of a thumb knuckle.

We kept it in a little cage for the day, but were afraid to keep it longer. We once had tiny pet frogs that did not live long. He was so cute, I don't think I could bear it if he died in our hands in the next few days. So we decided to release him into some marshlands close to our home. Every night you hear tons of frogs croaking there, so we figured it was a safe place for him to go.
Ribbit! Ribbit!

Charlene is an old old old family friend. Our parents have been great friends for almost 2 decades.... Her brother, Elmer (er, he goes by James now) was a really good friend of mine throughout the middle school and high school years. Charlene is a few years younger than me, and joined my vb squad back in the Hall High days. The whole family relocated to California once the kids all left school, and it's been almost 10 years since I've caught up with them! I was glad to be able to join them on this beautiful day...

The groom, Chris. What a great guy for Charlene.... They'll be happy for a gloriously long time.
Beautiful bride with her parents!
I love the dress.
The happy couple!
Elmer! Good thing he chopped off the shag he was sporting during the holidays.
The cutest flower girl I've ever seen! Maddie, Charlene and Chris' little baby.

It was a very nice wedding, gorgeous location, great meaningful speeches... We also got a chance to catch up with Eric Hsu, another old family friend. I have fond memories of hanging out with his sister Adonia (one of my very good high school friends), him, and Charlene back in the day. Tons of fun. He and Charlene used to bicker so much, that when we played Pictionary against them, Adonia and I would cheat so bad (we'd tell each other the answers) and they never figured it out!... Eric's a fancy schmancy music video director now and I'm so happy for him. It's always been a dream of his, and he's accomplished it! When he was really young, he would make cartoon music videos using a white board. It was pretty cool.

Dave and I taking a few pictures to show off the beautiful location. Unfortunately, the sun was so bright, it washed out the pics a bit...
